天然沸石是铝硅酸盐类矿物，外观呈白色或砖红色，属弱酸性阳离子交换剂，经人工导入活性组分，使其具有新的离子交换或吸附能力，吸附容量也相应增大。主要用于中小型锅炉用水的软化处理，以除去水中的钙、镁离子，从而减少锅炉内水垢的生成，减轻水测金属的腐蚀，延长锅炉的使用寿命。在废水处理中，可用于除去水中的磷和铅以及六价铬。失效后的沸石可用于浓盐水逆流再生后重复使用。

1、去除废水中的氨氮
水体中氨氮含量增加会导致水体营养化，藻类大量繁殖，溶解氧锐减，水质严重恶化，从而破坏水生态平衡。因此，有效控制和降低污水中氨氮含量已成为现代污水处理技术的一项新课题。我公司对沸石去除氨氮行为进行了实验研究。用沸石去除氨氮的结果表明，废水的pH值对沸石除氨有很大的影响，在pH值为6-7时达到最大交换容量。
2、去处废水中的重金属离子
锌、铬、镍等重金属离子是造成环境污染、对人体极为有害的物质，消除方法有活性炭吸附法、溶剂萃取法、离子交换法。而沸石几乎对水中所有的重金属离子都有去除作用，实验表明，采用沸石处理以上3种重金属离子效果比较好，被沸石吸附交换的重金属离子还可以浓缩回收，沸石经处理后还可以循环再生使用。经处理后，废水中锌、镉、镍的含量均低于国家标准。
3、去除放射性物质
利用沸石的离子交换性能，可以消除水中的放射性137Cs和90Sr，尤其是对放射性物质137Cs的选择性，远远的高于其它的碱元素和碱土元素，而且交换了137Cs的沸石可原封不动的作为放射源使用，尤其是斜发沸石的作用更为明显。为了不使放射性物质扩散污染，通过熔化沸石，可以使放射性离子长久的固定在沸石晶格内，因为熔化沸石的小晶片溶解作用，进行是极慢的，失去1%的放射性物质需要50a。目前，核工业部已将天然沸石用于原子能领域进行放射性废水处理。

3, remove radioactive material
