石英砂是采用天然石英矿为原料，经破碎、水洗、精筛而成，目前是水处理行业中使用最广泛、量最大的净水材料。石英砂是一种坚硬、耐磨、化学性能稳定的硅酸盐矿物，其主要矿物成分是SIO2，石英砂的颜色是乳白色、或无色半透明状，硬度7，性脆无解理，贝壳状端口，油脂光泽，密度为2.65，堆积密度（1-20目为1.6，20-200为1.5），其化学、热学和机械性能具有明显的异象性，不溶于酸，微溶于KOH溶液，熔点1750℃。

【产品用途】
石英砂所具有的独特的物理、化学特性，使得其在航空、航天、电子、机械以及当今飞速发展的IT产业中占有举足轻重的地位，特别是其内在分子链结构、晶体形状和晶格变化规律，使其具有的耐高温、热膨胀系数小、高度绝缘、耐腐蚀、压电效应、谐振效应以及其独特的光学特性，在许多高科技产品中发挥着越来越重要的作用。细石英砂可用作研磨玻璃等的磨料。
一、玻璃：平板玻璃、浮法玻璃、玻璃制品（玻璃罐、玻璃瓶、玻璃管等）、光学玻璃、玻璃纤维、玻璃仪器、导电玻璃、玻璃布及防射线特种玻璃等的主要原料。
二、陶瓷及耐火材料：瓷器的胚料和釉料，窑炉用高硅砖、普通硅砖以及碳化硅等的原料。
三、冶金：硅金属、硅铁合金和硅铝合金等的原料或添加剂、熔剂 。
四、建筑：混凝土、胶凝材料、筑路材料、人造大理石、水泥物理性能检验材料（即水泥标准砂）等 。
五、化工：硅化合物和水玻璃等的原料，硫酸塔的填充物，无定形二氧化硅微粉。
六、机械：铸造型砂的主要原料，研磨材料（喷砂、硬研磨纸、砂纸、砂布等）。
七、电子：高纯度金属硅、通讯用光纤等。
八、橡胶、塑料：填料（可提高耐磨性）。
九、涂料：填料（可提高涂料的耐酸性）。
