麦饭石是一种天然的硅酸盐矿物，学名:石英二长岩。麦饭石对生物无毒、无害并具有一定生物活性的复合矿物或药用岩石。 麦饭石的主要化学成分是无机的硅铝酸盐。我国麦饭石资源极为丰富，各地所产麦饭石品质差别较大，其中以山东、内蒙古为佳，当地石质较好，可以进行雕刻等加工。有些地区的麦饭石由于形成年代比较晚，石质较稀松，只能碎化处理后重新压制成型。
