锰砂滤料是选用优质块状锰矿石作原料，经破碎筛选而成，外观粗糙，呈褐色，具有良好的除铁除锰性能，常用于饮用水的除铁、除锰过滤装置。

天然锰砂是一种很强的氧化剂，能对水中股价铁起氧化作用。对使用天然二氧化锰砂除铁，其原理有二种：一种是以所谓活性滤膜的作用，锰砂表面有一层较强的氧化作用。另一种是锰砂本身反铁催化作用。将水中的二价铁催化成三价铁，再把三价铁千周附着在锰砂颗粒表面从而起到除铁的目的。天然二氧化锰能氧化水中二价铁为三价铁使其沉淀除去，使水清净，二氧化锰被水中的溶解氧氧化成七价锰的氧化物。七价锰再将水中的二价铁氧化成三价铁。 

锰砂滤料是采用国内质量优良、晶粒致密、机械强度大、化学活性强、不易破碎、不溶于水的天然锰矿砂。经水洗打磨除杂、干燥、磁选、筛分、除尘等工艺成砂。再把加工好的锰砂按一定的级配调合而成。它具有水处理滤料最理想的级配比例，使它在单位体积内有最大的比表面积、最强的截污能力、最大的氧化催化作用和最小的反冲洗流失率。锰砂滤料外观粗糙呈褐色或淡灰色，常用于生活饮用水的除铁、除锰过滤装置，滤水效果非常良好。（注：MnO2≥35%既可除铁，又能除锰，MnO2≤30%）只能用于地下水除铁）锰砂滤料主要用于降低水中的铁锰铁和锰总含量，

Manganese sand is selected by natural manganese sand or manganese ore, grinding and sieving to various kind of manganese sand filter media. Rough appearance, brown color, can remove the Manganese and Ferrum in the water, very useful in drainage. The manganese filter media is rich of manganese dioxide, the user can choose it according to your need.

For now, there’re two different theories in de-ferrum in water treatment via manganese dioxide. Firstly, use a so called film membrance filter, because oxidation take place in the surface of the manganese sand. Secondly, due to the catalysis of the manganese sand, it can transfer the Fe²⁺ to Fe³⁺, then absorb Fe³⁺ in the surface and make it deposite, this way the Ferrum can be removed and the water will be clear.
